HCECF (Homeschool Cooperative Educating in C FL) - Homeschool Cooperative Educating in Central Florida (HCECF) is an inclusive and eclectic group of home educating families in the Orlando area (basically Orange County, Seminole County, Lake County and Volusia County) working together for weekly co-ops, science classes, lego teams, fun educational fieldtrips, sports/pe days, etc for a diverse age group while maintaining and supporting the individual valuable educational choices each family has made. As our children age, so will the focus ages of this group enabling the children and parents to continue the bonds of friendship and support that have formed. Younger children tend to be under-representing in the homeschooling support groups since many have a minimum age requirement, unless there is an older sibling in the group. Hopefully that need will be filled here at HCECF. Homeschooling can begin at birth and that is one of the ideas behind starting this group - no child is too young for quality educational experiences. HCECF provides a discussion forum for all aspects of homeschooling in the focus group of young elementary age and younger. HCECF is truly inclusive and eclectic and as such welcome and value participation from people of different faiths and education styles. HCECF firmly believes everyone picks the right path for themselves and their family.

Now a little about you...To prevent spamming, flaming and prostelitizing, your first message to the group will be moderated. HolisticHomeschoolersTampaBay (Holistic Homeschoolers Tampa Bay) - A list for Tampa Bay area liberal/progressive homeschoolers who want their children to have a natural childhood and seek healthy alternatives in play and in life. This is a community group, and we meet regularly in an attempt to offer both ourselves and our children a healthy social environment. Those interested in this list would most likely be limiting media in their childrens' lives, avoiding excessive commercialization, concerned with eating healthy foods, and creating an environment for their children rich in imagination and creativity. We are a group with wide-ranging lifestyles and belief systems, and do not homeschool for religious reasons. We welcome people with children of all ages. Those who join this list are asked to be respectful of each other and of our various lifestyle choices.

HomeEd_Polk (HEP -- Home Educators in Polk) - HEP is not a local support group but a Yahoo group for all Polk County (Florida) families who home school. Find out about support groups, curriculum, classes, workshops, evaluators, requirements, meetings, book sales, and more. Ask questions and find answers from other Polk County parents who educate their children at home.

Share with other home-schooling parents in Polk County. We'll discuss our ups and downs, victories and difficulties, getting started in home schooling, making it through high school, and helping a student "own" his education.

You are welcome to list items for sale here. The idea of first offering items to others in our county fits well with the idea of community. We want to support what home schooling families are doing, including resources available through familes with home businesses. If you give lessons, if you have something to trade or share, tell us about it. You can always just hit Delete if you don't want to read a message that comes in your mailbox.

If you are an evaluator or support group leader, please contact me so that I can make your information available here. I'll also consider information for the files from publishers and reps.

The volume of messages is low, so messages will be approved before they reach the group. Thank you for your patience as the group develops.

Areas that are considered "hot" topics NOT TO BE POSTED include, but are not limited to, such things as religious, occult, or s-xual preference materials/links/rallies. Jacksonville_FL_Homeschoolers - Do you not fit the mold when it comes to homeschooling? Do you cringe when someone mentions socialization? Are you looking for homeschoolers that will accept you and your family?

We offer everything you need in a homeschool group because you, the members, are the ones who design and lead the group. ANYONE can plan/organize an event.

We are all inclusive, open-minded, tolerant and understanding. JFH is not interested in promoting one particular style or method of homeschooling but is open and supportive of all.

The group is based in the Southside/Arlington area but welcomes members from surrounding areas. Local members only, please.

Important: JFH is not associated with any particular religious belief but welcomes all lifestyles, faiths and families. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic status. Those looking for an overt or specific religious focus will not find that here as we are a diverse group.

This group is ACTIVE and the message board is only one component of our group. Members are encouraged to be a part of an active community that attends park days, field trips, plays and other academic and social events.

Participation in a JFH event is requested for new members/prospective members. This is just a casual "meet-and-greet" and is meant to insure the safety of our members and not as an intimidating prospect.

JFH membership is free and each family's level of involvement is up to them.

If applicants are recommended by another JFH member, they may immediately become members.

JFH is a member of SHEAF. JFH members may join at the discounted group rate. SHEAF membership is optional.

As a Catholic homeschool support group, we feel it is our vocation to help families who are called to homeschool their children in a Catholic environment fulfill their call. Sometimes this support will take the form of a prayer group, to help her grow in her faith, and sometimes it will come in the form of a mom’s night out to share healthy quick recipes for busy days.

Lib_O_HS (Orlando Liberal Homeschoolers) - Are you choosing to homeschool so that you can provide your children with superior educational opportunties to what the public school system provides? Do you feel stifled by the conservative Christian majority of your homeschool support group? Are there enough liberal-minded homeschoolers in the Orlando area to start our own group? Let's network here to find out. Our only membership requirement is an open mind and an accepting, friendly attitude.

This is a secular homeschool support group for families with liberal political values; we believe in equality for all, regardless of race, gender, religion or sexual orientation. If you have had difficulty finding a homeschool support group that would accept you the way you are because you can't honestly comply with their "statement of faith" requirements, we can offer your children the opportunities to fulfill their social needs in a diverse group that accepts them as they are.

Our mission will be to provide group educational opportunties, field trips and precious friendships for our children to develop over the years. We currently offer park playdates and field trips and we share our individual knowledge to help resolve any educational difficulties our families may encounter. opwjhomeschoolers (Orange Park /West Jax Homeschoolers) - This is a brand new group for homeschooling parents in the Orange Park / Middleburg / Mandarin / Westside /Green Cove area of Jacksonville...

Do you not fit the "mold" when it comes to homeschooling? Do you cringe when someone mentions "socialization." Are you looking for homeschoolers that will accept you and your family for who you are? This may be the group you've been looking for.

This group is all inclusive, open-minded, tolerant and understanding. We are not interested in promoting one particular style or method of homeschooling but are open and supportive of all and will do our best to help you find the answers you need. There is no religion bashing allowed. Rather an atheist may sit down with a christian and learn from each other. This is what inclusiveness is all about.

The group is based in the Orange Park/Westside area but welcomes members from surrounding areas.

Important: This group is non-religious/secular but welcomes all lifestyles, faiths and families. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or socio-economic status.

Why don't you give us a try. We would love to have active, excited and dynamic families like yours.

The only requirement is that you get involved. There's no excuse not to!

This group is a sister group to Jacksonville_FL_Homeschoolers

Orlando-Area-Unschoolers (Orlando Area Unschoolers) - Are you unschooling in the Orlando area?? If so, then this is the group for you!! :)

I started this group because I was hoping to connect with other unschooling families in our area. I'd like for my children to have opportunities to meet other unschooled kids their age.

While we do offer an online support group, we will be offering REAL LIFE events so our children will have the opportunity to make friends within the group. We'd love to eventually do bigger events like camping, etc, but for now, we're keeping things simple and meeting at the park, roller skating rink, or wherever.

NOTE TO PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS: All members of this group are required to plan at least one event per year. It could be as basic as meeting at the park or something more complex such as a guided tour and hands on experience at a museum of history.. It's up to the parents--as long as they get *something* on the calendar at least once a year. This is so everyone is involved and one person doesn't end up doing all the planning.
