unschoolingmn - This list is a place for Minnesota unschoolers to get together and discuss unschooling ideas. Unschooling when defined as: natural learning, child-led learning, or interest based learning. An unschooled child can choose what they want to learn, live in freedom and find a great joy. Unschooling is living life, from watching TV or playing video games to painting, raising animals--everything!

Unschooling is *not* a hands-off type of parenting or living, it will often include a parent or guardian. If you are coming to this from conventional parenting it can be a leap of faith. Faith in your child as a human. Unschooling can question some traditional thoughts that usually don't get questioned in other circles. Such as kids making their own choices, not unaccompanied, but not controlled either. There can be a balance, living your lives together. My blog link is below, if you'd like to check out what I'm talking about. Trusting your child can have wonderful benefits, it is a wonderful journey and if you think this sounds appealing to you come on and join! This is a moderated list. There will be a 2 week moderation period for new members. New members can post, but their messages will go through the moderator first for those 2 weeks.

    To Subscribe, visit unschoolingmn.

WATCH Homeschool Group (WATCHHomeschoolGroup) - This group is for members of W.A.T.C.H. (Watertown Area Christian Homeschoolers). We are a Christian group of home schooling families meeting together for encouragement, support and friendships serving Watertown, Minnesota and surrounding communities.

This group is for approved members of the local W.A.T.C.H. group only. It is moderated and NO SPAM is allowed. (If you would like information on joining our local group, contact the list owner at WATCHHomeschoolGroup-owner@yahoogroups.com).

    To Subscribe, visit WATCHHomeschoolGroup.

The Western Wisconsin Homeschool Network (wWI-homeschoolnetwork) - This network has been created to support the homeschooling community of Pierce, St Croix, and Dunn counties of Western Wisconsin, along the I-94 corridor from Hudson to Menomonie. We welcome homeschoolers in other nearby counties to join us, as well as parents in our area who are schooling at home thru public charter schools, and parents who are still exploring homeschooling as an option for their family.

This group is a place where parents can connect with other homeschooling families in our area. This is a place where we can ask questions, compare notes, share resources, and generally "socialize" with other homeschool parents. Please post about homeschool-related events you know of in our community or within driving distance.

Members are encouraged to ask each other about different homeschooling approaches, curriculum, and suggestions for materials with or without a religious focus. If you are, for example, looking for secular resources, please say so when you ask for suggestions. If you are, for example, recommending a Christian-focused resource, please state that it is such when you list it.

Our homeschool community is diverse - but we are tied by our common belief that homeschooling is a viable educational option, a worthwhile endeavor, and a wonderful opportunity for families to learn and grow together. Please be respectful of all beliefs, philosophies, and personal points of view of other members.

    To Subscribe, visit wWI-homeschoolnetwork.

West Metro Homeschool Co-op (WMHC) - West Metro Homeschool Co-op provides practical support and spiritual encouragement to each other through weekly meetings, resource sharing, and prayer while building a sense of community through children's classes, activities, field trips, and opportunities for enrichment and interaction.

    To Subscribe, visit WMHC.

Wild River Home Educators - Wild River Home Educators is an informal social group of homeschoolers from all walks of life who regularly come together in an open-minded and accepting environment.

Located along the St. Croix River in Wisconsin and Minnesota, Wild River Home Educators provides parents the opportunity to exchange ideas about curriculum, family dynamics and teaching while children make friends, enjoy field trips and learn together. Currently, member children range in age from infant to 13 years old. Our members come from several surrounding communities, such as Osceola, St. Croix Falls, Amery, Somerset, Hugo, and Shafer.

Social opportunities for both children and parents are offered on the second and fourth Fridays of every month. We meet at Hope Evangelical Free Church (located in Osceola, Wisconsin) in the winter and at local parks during the warmer months. We also gather for monthly field trips, regular parent outings, resource sharing and service projects.

We welcome anyone new to homeschooling, considering homeschooling, or just looking for homeschooling friends to contact us with questions. We ask anyone considering joining Wild River Home Educators to attend two public activities before joining the group.

For more information, call or email Kate at (715) 706-1060 or dkbergeron@charter.net.

Wisconsin TAG Homeschooling Forum (wi-TAGhomeschooling) - This group was formed to support Wisconsin parents who are currently homeschooling their "talented and gifted" (TAG) children, or considering the option of gifted homeschooling. We also welcome parents from neighboring Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois who have interest in gifted homeschool options.

This is a support group for parents who want to share the joys and challenges of homeschooling gifted children. No matter what homeschool approach you favor, this is a place where you can ask questions, seek advice, share resources, and connect with other gifted families who share similar situations.

Because neither our state gifted organization nor our state homeschool organizations provide a forum for TAG homeschoolers, it is hoped that this group can function as the beginnings of a cohesive Wisconsin TAG homeschooling community, and also as a clearinghouse for information on local, state and regional TAG homeschooling events and resources.

We are a very diverse group, and, as such, we encourage an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for the opinions and beliefs of all our members.

To Subscribe, visit Wisconsin TAG Homeschooling Forum.
