    Christian Home Educators of Franklin County - HEF is a Christian home school support group. The purpose of CHEF is to serve, encourage, and support Christian homeschooling families in Franklin and the surrounding counties of Virginia . This includes families who are anticipating home schooling, families who are currently homeschooling one or more of their children, and families who may no longer be homeschooling but are still interested in ministring to homeschooling families.

    Giles Homeschool Co-op - Giles county - Giles Homeschool Co-op was founded in 2011 by homeschool parents for homeschool children in Giles County, Virginia. Homeschool families unite in the education of their children as unto the Lord. Students are encouraged in a Biblical world view and are given opportunities not only academic in nature, but spiritual, social and emotional. Parents share homeschooling concepts, special skills and talents, and various curricula as they teach the students at Co-op.

    GRACEducators in Abingdon, Virginia (GRACEducators) - NOTE: This group is ONLY for members of GRACEducators in Abingdon, Virginia. Your membership must be approved by the moderator. If you are new to our group, you must first read and agree by signing a faith statement established by GRACE. This group is composed of some long-time homeschoolers as well as newer ones, and also a few with young children who are "getting ready". We are a Christian group of families that seek to encourage and support one another in the calling to homeschool our children in a Christ-centered environment.

    We have various activities and organized field trips from time to time. Our meeting format includes a brief devotional, any business matters and then a time of open discussion where anyone can ask questions, share a problem and seek advice, etc.

    We generally have our monthly meetings at homes or churches of our group members on a volunteer basis; the location changes depending upon who has volunteered to host that month's meeting.

    New River Valley Catholic Homeschoolers - Blacksburg/Christiansburg/Radford/surrounding areas (NRVCathHS) - New River Valley, Virginia area Catholic homeschool group composed mostly of families from Blacksburg, Christiansburg, and Radford as well as some of the surrounding areas. Our members are completely faithful to Pope Francis, the Magisterium and all the teachings of the Catholic Church.     Roanoke Valley Association of Christian Home Schools - A Christian Home School group. Located near Lake Gaston serving both sides of the border, Virginia and North Carolina. We are near Littleton and surrounding counties on the North Carolina side and Mecklenburg/Brunswick County on the Virginia side. The group was originally started about 20 years ago by our President and her husband. Our home school group tries to meet on a weekly basis from Sept to June during a traditional school year.

    Southwest Virginia Homeschool Group (southwest_va_hs_group) - A lot of people don't realize that "Southwest Virginia" stretches much further south and west than Roanoke. This group is for the areas surrounding Wise, Virginia. These areas include but are not limited to Wise County, City of Norton, Big Stone Gap, Powell Valley, Dickenson County, Clintwood, Haysi, Clinchco.

    This group does not discriminate against race, religion, politics, etc. I see homeschooling as very universal. Not everyone who homeschools should be expected to fit a specific lifestyle, religion, or political party.

    Southwest Virginia Home Educators - Grayson/Carroll and surrounding counties around Galax - An excited group of home educators who enjoy getting together to encourage other families on this wonderful journey. Our main goal is to offer support to families who home educate or are planning to do so in the Southwest Virginia area.     State of Franklin Homeschoolers - Northeast Tennessee/Southwest Virginia/Western North Carolina (SOFH) (frankchat) - An inclusive, secular home education support network, providing social, creative and educational opportunities for homeschooling families. Our homeschooling community supports all current or potential homeschoolers, regardless of their race, religion, creed, personal lifestyle, political ideology, or educational philosophy. Our members come from Northeast Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Western North Carolina. Most meetings are held in Johnson City, TN or elsewhere in the Tri-Cities area.

All aspects of unschooling will be discussed including family and community events, living as learning, food and sleep issues, television-viewing, natural and joyful living. Members of this list believe child-led learning is more effective than other-directed instruction and more enjoyable and enriching to the child, parent, family, community, and world. Off-topic discussions are encouraged, however this is not a list for discussing curriculums, etc.

    Tricities Homeschool Play group - Tricities Tennessee/Virginia and Southwest Virginia area (tricities_hs_play_group) - A new group for families that Homeschool regardless of Method, Religion, other group affiliations, etc. This group is open to anyone who would like to add a play group get together to their weekly (or biweekly based on members) schedule. The area is also all inclusive. A central meeting space I am thinking of now is Sugar Hollow Park in Bristol, VA. This can be changed of course, depending on where the majority of our members are located (we'll try to keep it central). Pretty much if you are a homeschooler and you are willing to drive to the area, you are welcome.

    For now, we can work on meeting each other on here until we have a few members who are interested. We can also discussing switching up locations or adding field trips in the future!
