The object of teaching a child is to enable the child to get along without the teacher. We need to educate our children for their future, not our past.

We hope that this site will be a support and blessing to each member!

P.S. This group is not intended to replace any existing yahoo group, but to enhance the support and fellowship of area homeschooling moms.

P.P.S. All are welcome to join regardless of their beliefs, but keep in mind that we are free to express our Christian faith here, while being tolerant and understanding of others. No flaming or heated theological debates, please. Thank you.

People who live in Vermont and either homeschool or plan to homeschool their children are invited to discuss events and issues. This message board is a clearinghouse of information that will not only help parents to home educate their children but will also enable Vermont homeschoolers to exercise, promote, and protect their right to homeschool their children. This message board does not promote or advocate any particular educational approach, religious conviction, political stance, or any other view or philosophy of homeschooling parents. This group is for a broad-spectrum of homeschoolers and is exclusively about homeschooling issues. Vermont homeschoolers need to have a place where we can all stand together to discuss issues relevant to home schooling, even though we have different philosophical view points. There are parents on this message board from both ends of just about any spectrum you can name. We stand together as homeschoolers. ~~~ You will find a list of group rules in the file section.

Be aware that while this list is moderated, the moderator does not step in to tell others how to behave, or how to communicate with others. The list sometimes has heated discussions that some may view as attacks, so this list may not be for the faint of heart!! Home-schooling and unschooling are all about freedom. In that vein, this list allows freedom of expression. So express yourselves (preferably not at someone else's expense).

    To Subscribe, visit VT-homeschooling.

vtsechs (VTsecularhomeschool) - This is a Vermont homeschooling group that is based in the Rutland County area of Vermont. Its main purpose is to provide a central place to post events, happenings, gatherings and other opportunities for Rutland area homeschoolers and unschoolers. It is a secular list.

This does not mean we don't welcome those with religious beliefs. We welcome those who wish to belong to a homeschool community that supports an appreciation for diversity, respect and open-mindedness for people of all beliefs, orientations, and lifestyles.

To prevent random malicious postings or spam, the owner will ask pending members to provide a full name and town they live in. You need not put this in your member profile though. I will keep it private.

Use this list to post or read about educational or social events or opportunities in the greater Rutland Vermont area that you think might be of interest to our homeschooling community.
