wale_online - We are the online contact point for members of the homeschooling support group called WALE - Woodfield Area Learning Exchange, a chapter of Illinois HOUSE. We are inclusive of all homeschooling styles and methods.

WHY WALE? One definition of the word 'wale' comes from the Old English: "a solid component interwoven with others whose addition increases the overall strength of the structure as a whole." We certainly hope that membership in our chapter will help provide this to the homeschooling community!

Our group sponsors drop-in park dates on a bi-weekly basis. Parent planning meetings take place at the first park date of the month. Non-sponsored individually sanctioned activities are posted on this announcement board as a courtesy for our members. We also have a parent meeting once a month at a local coffee house. These meetings are in the evening and provide a chance for the homeschooling parent to take a break from schooling and parenting, while mentoring and sharing with others. WELCOME!

wildindigolifelearners (Wild Indigo Life Learners) - Wild Indigo Life Learners is made up of a community of unschooling families who have chosen to be facilitators in the life learning journey of their children. We wish to encourage our children to pursue those things that interest them and to provide the love and support they need on their individual journey of discovery. We believe that every family has its own vision of unschooling and should be free to decide what path to pursue on the unschooling spectrum. Therefore, our group is made up of families that range from an eclectic learning style to those that radically unschool. It is the coming together of these many styles that makes our group rich and from which we all benefit. We are based in the Naperville, Illinois area yet draw from many communities in the western suburbs of Chicago.

For more information, visit Wild Indigo Blog.

    To read, visit wildindigolifelearners.

Wisconsin TAG Homeschooling Forum (wi-TAGhomeschooling) - This group was formed to support Wisconsin parents who are currently homeschooling their "talented and gifted" (TAG) children, or considering the option of gifted homeschooling. We also welcome parents from neighboring Minnesota, Iowa, and Illinois who have interest in gifted homeschool options.

This is a support group for parents who want to share the joys and challenges of homeschooling gifted children. No matter what homeschool approach you favor, this is a place where you can ask questions, seek advice, share resources, and connect with other gifted families who share similar situations.

Because neither our state gifted organization nor our state homeschool organizations provide a forum for TAG homeschoolers, it is hoped that this group can function as the beginnings of a cohesive Wisconsin TAG homeschooling community, and also as a clearinghouse for information on local, state and regional TAG homeschooling events and resources.

We are a very diverse group, and, as such, we encourage an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for the opinions and beliefs of all our members.

To Subscribe, visit Wisconsin TAG Homeschooling Forum.
